The legal lifeLINE is run by me, Andrew Locke, a barrister practising from Nexus, The Chambers of Michael Mansfield QC, Lincoln’s Inn, London.
I was called to the Bar in 2008 after a 15 year career in the property business during which I helped run a property management firm. I also spent 4 years as a part-time County Court Advocate representing defendants in housing and mortgage possession proceedings.
After initially practising solely as a criminal barrister I used my pre-Bar experience in the commercial world to build a diverse practice, and I advise and represent people in many different areas of law. I have practised from Nexus, The Chambers of Michael Mansfield QC since October 2011 and you can view my Chambers profile here.
I have also been seconded to or worked with the Financial Services Authority (now called the FCA) on a major insider dealing prosecution, the July 7th Suicide Bombings Inquest and the Nursing and Midwifery Council. I also spent 8 months between 2015 and 2016 at a large commercial law firm advising SME businesses, and in the summer of 2016 I worked for 4 months as a consultant to a firm of solicitors, reviewing and troubleshooting their housing disrepair claims caseload.
In addition to my day to day practice from Nexus Chambers I also offer legal compliance training to property professionals and small businesses. I also regularly assist my Inn* with advocacy training and advice to student and pupil (trainee) barristers.
